I have seen Virginia Beach snow storms before, but this one was big compared to others in this area. I was ready to help! This video tells my story.

The good thing about the snow storm is that my owner is off from school on Monday and I get to spend some more time with her (and maybe an extra walk out of her on Monday).

As I sat on my bed watching President Obama’s State of the Union address talking about unity, it suddenly hit me that he forgot to talk about us beagles.  Putting aside the fact that he picked another dog to be the White House pet, from my perceptive, here’s what he should have talked about during the State of Union address:

• Bipartisan Relationships - For years, I have been reaching out to the cats in our neighborhood on issues such as sidewalk sharing, poop disposal, territorial rights, etc. and they have ignored my “olive branch.”  President Obama needs to hold my fellow cats to actively seek change instead of their “just say no” policy.
• Job Loss - I have been working harder than ever.  However, I still feel that I may lose my job as protector of the household to an alarm system built in China.  I am already a “green” job employee since I already work at recycling my food and “adding nutrients to the earth.”  Lets see an alarm system do that.
• Health Care -   I feel that my owners should bring me to the vet whenever I want to go.  As I grow older, I also have additional health concerns that the pet insurance companies may treat as a “pre-existing condition.”  Who is there to protect us from the pet insurance companies?



• Terrorism -   As a beagle, we don’t need to worry about exploding pants on airplanes.  However, I am terrorized by pit bulls in the neighborhood.  If there is a need for profiling, then pit bulls are the perfect example for terrorist profiling.  President Obama, keep my neighborhood safe!
• “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” - President Obama mentioned that he would fight to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell.”  I serve my owner well.  When I urinate with all four paws on the ground as opposed to one leg to the sky, I hear the other dogs whispering and I feel the pain.  Just because I am neutered and urinate a different way doesn’t mean I can’t be a great beagle!  I can do my job just as well, if not better, than any other beagle.  Plus my owner loves me for who I am and I am just fine with that!

I am just saying, if President Obama could just do a follow-up on his State of the Union address to discuss his canine friends, it would greatly be appreciated.  What do you think?

Well, the granddaughter just left with her father to finally go home. My owners finally took me off my leash and I am finally I am free again.

But how come I feel empty? I really do miss that cute little human being running around the house laughing and slapping “five” with her grandfather.

Let me take a deep breath, stick my tough out, wag my tail like a dog, and carry on like the crazy beagle I am.

It started out with just Saturday night when my house owner’s granddaughter would come over to visit.  She is so cute and I tolerated her as they neglected me.

Now this weekend she is at the house the whole weekend.  They are all in the room watching Baby Geniuses and ignoring  me.  She so darn cute.  I can’t win against such cuteness.

I might as well grit my teeth and bare it.  I will keep you posted.
